On Sunday, Dec. 16, the Boruca Christmas Party 2012 will take place at the Sala Comunal and the Cancha in Dominical. Donna and Daryl are a little late in kicking off fundraising efforts this year, but they hope to reach their goal of $3,500. They offer thanks to friends, previous guests and family members who have kept the party going over the years.

Last year, they hosted 300 village children plus another 50 from nearby communities who had heard of the party but never met Santa. In addition, they feed the wonderful group of ladies from Boruca who help out by preparing the meals and minimizing chaos.

The total number served last year was more than 420. In addition to face painting, the event includes races and games, plus unlimited ice cream and soft drinks.

If you elect to buy toys rather than donating money, they ask that the gift have a value of about $6 to keep the gifts (more-or-less) equal for all of the kids. If you would like to make a pledge, need more info, or would like to help Santa with transportation gifts, food, ice, drinks, cups, utensils or plates, call Donna or Daryl at 2787-8262 or email shelterfromthestormcr@gmail.com.
