Leave your wheels at home for Car Free Day Costa Rica 2017

It’s here: World Car Free Day, an excuse to leave your car at home and give San José’s choked streets (not to mention its air) a little breather.

The 2017 edition of the event, which has grown from year to year, includes a wide range of workshops, activities, two dedicated bus lanes on the capital’s Avenida Segunda, extended hours for the Urban Train, bicycle raffles and much more.

The voluntary celebration asks people to avoid using cars with fewer than three passengers, or motorcycles.

During the preparations for this year’s event, the Día Mundial sin Carro Costa Rica community also organized the #RetoSinCarro, which has inspired a wide variety of organizations and businesses, such as the Banco Nacional and the Municipality of Desamparados, to see how many of their employees will avoid using cars this Friday.

For a full list of activities, visit the event’s Facebook page.
