Traditional Fourth of July Picnic premieres new venue, format on Tuesday

On July 4, 1776, the bells rang and the citizens cheered to celebrate Independence Day in the United States of America. That was 241 years ago.  Today, in Costa Rica, the American Colony Committee strives to honor this traditional celebration by organizing an event to mark this monumental date in the history of the United States.

Get ready for some fun! This year’s committee members have planned a fantastic celebration with a new face…one that presents a changed venue and a Stars and Stripes Patriotic Show.

The festivities will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, in Avenida Escazú.  It all begins at 4:30pm with lively music, followed by the Hero’s and Leader’s Parade, led by none other than the infamous Uncle Sam. Then the Stars and Stripes Show, complete with a patriotic sing-a-long, will be enjoyed by all in attendance. Ending the celebration, a spectacular display of traditional fireworks is scheduled to take place at 6:30 for the viewing pleasure of all.

Everyone is invited! This includes U.S. citizens, our Costa Rican families and friends, and the general public. There is no charge for entrance to the event.  Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Activities for children include face painting and balloons.

Come join us to celebrate 241 years of U.S Independence!
