Reservations Soon Needed for Costa Rica’s Corcovado Park

Costa Rica’s Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Telecommunications (MINAET) announced on Friday that access to Corcovado National Park in the Osa Peninsula in the country’s southern zone, and to Isla del Caño in the Pacific will be allowed by pre-paid reservation only beginning on Dec. 1.

The new regulation was issued by an executive decree signed by Costa Rica’s environment minister and is expected to regulate the numbers of visitors to the parks in hopes of preserving the wildlife and natural environments in both areas.

In order to make reservations, visitors must contact MINAET’s reservation and information office in Puerto Jimenez at: 2735-5036 or by e-mail at pncorcovado@gmail.com.

Payments can be made electronically online to MINAET’s Banco Nacional account or visitors can purchase tickets at the National System of Conservation Area’s main office in San José located on 300 meters south of the ULACIT in Barrio Tournón on Ave. 11 and Calle 3.
