Costa Rica: Best Place to Spend Holidays

Costa Rica’s tourism sector received a boost on Tuesday from three U.S. travel agencies.

Smarter Travel, StudentUniverse and the Student Travel Agency (STA) recommended Costa Rica as the number one place to spend Christmas and ring in the new year.

According to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), CNN asked the travel agencies to rank their best destinations for the end of the year.

Costa Rica was selected for the top spot, followed by Lima, Peru; Panama City, Florida; Boston; London and Paris.

ICT marketing director María Amalia said she is thrilled at the announcement, but not surprised. “This proves that our efforts to showcase the Costa Rican experience to travel agents have already yielded important benefits for the country,” she said.
