Shake it: Ricky Martin tickets go on sale for Costa Rica concert

Look sharp, Ricky Martin fans: Tickets for the Puerto Rican pop idol’s Oct. 12 concert are set to go on sale this week, on Monday at 10 a.m. for Credomatic cardholders and on Friday for the general public.

The certified grade-A hunk will bring his M.A.S. (Música + Alma + Sexo) World Tour to Ricardo Saprissa Stadium in Tibás, north of San José, for one night only.

If you have ears on either side of your head, you probably remember a rockin’ little number from the last year of the 20th century called “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” Besides reaching No. 1 in the U.S., the U.K. and elsewhere, “Livin’ La Vida Loca” is widely credited with igniting the Latin pop explosion of 1999, blazing a trail through the English-speaking world for artists like Shakira, Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez.

It’s been 12 years since Martin’s signature song took the world by storm. In the years since, he has released four albums, notoriously tried to teach George W. Bush a step or two, released an autobiography aptly titled “Me,” and had two boys by means of a surrogate mother and announced to the world that he is “a fortunate homosexual man.”

Tickets for the concert organized by Evenpro will range in price from ₡16,000 to ₡62,000 ($32 to $124) and are available online at www.specialticket.net, by phone at 2206-7770 and at authorized Servimás, La Barbería and Bansbach stores.
