Airbags will not be required in new transit bill

On Monday, a legislative commission in charge of discussing a bill to better regulate traffic eliminated the requirement that all cars in Costa Rica should include an airbag system.

The original bill said that all citizens were obliged to integrate an airbag system if their car did not originally include one. This and other measures were discussed during a recent congressional session.

Lawmakers concluded that vehicles built without airbag from their original factory would not have to add the safety feature in Costa Rica.
