ICE office burglarized in Guadalupe on Monday morning

Three people, one possibly disguised as a Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) employee, robbed an ICE building in Guadalupe, a suburb northeast of San José, early Monday morning, according to the Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ).

An initial OIJ report said one individual, possibly wearing an ICE uniform, approached the building around 3 a.m. Monday morning. The security guard at the building opened the door for the presumed employee and two more individuals pushed through. The assailants likely threatened the guard with a gun, the report said, and tied the guard’s hands and feet.

The report said the suspects fled the building after taking “articles from the agency” as well as the guard’s cellphone and weapon.

An OIJ representative said the exact nature of the items stolen from the building are not known at this time and that investigators are searching for the assailants.
