Deportivo Saprissa suffered another loss, falling 4-0 against C.S. Herediano in the ongoing Apertura tournament that Alajuelense leads with ease.
This is the second straight blowout that the morados have received. Last Sunday, the undisputed leader of the championship crushed them 5-2.
Herediano goals were scored by Freddy Álvarez (43), Ariel Soto (63), Brian Rubio (73) and Rándall Azofeifa (90 + 2). Saprissa suffered the expulsion of central defender Jean Carlo Agüero in the 86th minute.
With this result, the ‘S’ lost its pace and positions in the tournament — it now has four games without a win and has descended to fourth place in the table, which could compromise its chances of moving on to the semifinal round.
In spite of everything, Saprissa still hasn’t discussed replacing the technical director, Wálter ‘Paté’ Centeno.
For Herediano, its overwhelming victory allows the “Team” to ascend to the second place of the table; of course, it remains at a considerable distance (14 points) from Alajuelense, and only five dates remain in the qualifying phase.
Jicaral and Saprissa still owe a match to the calendar after their midweek duel was suspended due to a torrential downpour that hit the Nicoya Peninsula.
