Costa Rica Culture: Limón showcases region’s human and natural diversity

The Tico Times recently joined a two-day tour of the province of Limón sponsored by the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT) to look at the development of tourism here.

We explored various sites near the coast that draw tourists to this province, including a visit to the Port of Limón, a bird conservatory, the Jaguar Rescue Center, and a first-ever bird festival highlighting this region’s importance as a corridor for migratory birds.

The Limón province covers the entire eastern side of Costa Rica’s coast. Home to the highest populations of Afro-Latino, indigenous, and Chinese people in the country, it’s a culture rich in history, language, and music that is celebrated in this photo gallery.
