Gas prices go up this week

Per-liter prices of super and plus gasoline will increase this week by ₡17 and ₡29, respectively, following approval last Friday of a hike by the Public Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP).

The increase was set according to a calculation methodology ARESEP uses every month. The formula took into account international prices of fuel and exchange rates from March 27 to April 10, which resulted in an increase in prices for gasoline and a ₡1 reduction for diesel.

The approved hikes mean the per-liter price of super gasoline will increase from ₡756 to ₡773 ($1.43-1.46); the price for plus gasoline will increase from ₡723 to ₡752 ($1.36-1.42); and diesel will cost ₡674 ($1.27), down from ₡675.

The new prices will take effect the day after publication in the official newspaper La Gaceta, scheduled for this week.
