SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Nicaraguan shortstop Everth Cabrera, center, of the San Diego Padres celebrates next with Yasmani Grandal after scoring during the eighth inning of a baseball game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Opening Night at Petco Park on Sunday in San Diego, Calif. Cabrera, one of the few players from Central America currently in the majors, scored the final run in the Padres, 3-1, victory over the Dodgers. The Nicaraguan speedster was suspended for 50 games at the end of last year’s season for using performance-enhancing drugs. At the time of his suspension, Cabrera was leading the league in stolen bases.
