Puerto Limón’s annual Carnaval kicked off Thursday evening with performances and the crowning of the Carnaval queen.  Based around Columbus Day on Oct. 12, Carnaval is a week long street party featuring carnival rides, street food and culminating in a parade on Oct. 20.
