60-year-old Canadian man found dead in Jacó

A 60-year-old Canadian was found dead in Jacó, on the central Pacific coast. Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) told The Tico Times that Serge Gravel was found with three bullet wounds in his chest this week.

Even though Gravel was shot three times, the OIJ has ruled the death a suicide. A spokesman for the organization said the investigation is still ongoing.

Denise Gravel, Serge’s sister, told the QMI Agency she does not understand how the police could have come to that conclusion, and she hopes a further investigation will reveal the what happened.

Gravel said her brother moved to Costa Rica after retiring in January.
