Water rationing to limit service to half a million people this weekend

Some 550,000 residents of San José and the eastern province of Cartago will have rationed water service on Saturday and Sunday, officials said. The measures start at 8 a.m. on Saturday and end at 8 p.m. on Sunday.

The Costa Rican Electricity Institute will perform maintenance works in tubing systems in the Río Macho area east of Cartago, which requires the Costa Rican Water and Sewer Institute to reduce aqueduct operations.

Systems from the eastern zone of Cartago supply most of the water in the two provinces.
