Dominicalito Race Back for Year Two

The second annual Copa Playa Dominicalito 5K Fun Walk/Run and 10K Race plus Kids Beach Sprint is set for March 14 , starting at 7 a.m. sharp at Playa Dominicalito on the southern Pacific coast.

Dave and Debbie West of Costa del Sol Properties and a few other sponsors pulled off an extremely organized, well-attended event last year. This year promises to be even better, with improvements including a great new finish line, an earlier start to beat the heat and the newly paved road between Quepos and Dominical for easier access.

Major sponsors of the event are Costa del Sol Properties, Restaurante La Parcela, Vivero Natural Nursery, Dominical Days, the Comité Cantonal de Deportes y Recreación, The Dome Drive-Thru and the new tour boat Pacific Crest. All participants and volunteers qualify for the several thousand dollars in gift certificates to be given away following the race.

There will be cash prizes for the 10K winners and excellent gifts for the 5K winners who complete the beach and jungle road course.

The fees are as follows: before March 11, ¢5,000 ($9) for the 5K and ¢6,000 ($11) for the 10K; after March 11, ¢7,000 ($13) for the 5K and ¢8,000 ($14.50) for the 10K.

Preregistration is important and can be done in Dominical, Uvita, Quepos and San Isidro de El General. Race-day registration is available for those from outside the area. For details, call Dave at 2787-0237 or e-mail race@costadelsol-cr.net.

All money raised goes to the Dominical Lifeguards and Dominicalito school.
