Earthquake Felt in Golfito

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale was felt in the southern Pacific port city of Golfito Sept. 1 at 10:45 a.m., according to the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI), based at Universidad Nacional (UNA) in Heredia, north of San José.

The earthquake originated 30 kilometers below the earth’s surface near Puerto Armuelles, Panama.
