Power Companies Form Alliance
THE Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) and the National Power and Light Company (CNFL), along with several regional and municipal electricity cooperatives, have announced the formation of a national electric company alliance.The Electric Company Union of Costa Rica, formed under the Framework Convention of Cooperation, Investment and Joint Operation, will allow for more cooperation between the companies, more efficient management and improved benefits for customers, ICE said in a statement Aug. 19.In the convention, the companies agreed on principles such as the use of renewable energy sources, transparency and ethics, and universal access to power, among others, according to ICE.
