Auto Mercado Campaign Benefits San José Poor

SHOPPERS at Auto Mercadogrocery stores will be given theopportunity to help some of SanJosé’s neediest children and familieswhen they make their purchases nowthrough July 9. Cashiers will askshoppers at checkout if they wouldlike to make a donation of ¢100($0.20); shoppers can choose to givemore or less as well.Money raised in the campaignwill go to the Works of the HolySpirit Association (AOES), aCatholic Church institution that since2000 has been working with children,adolescents, mothers, families andhomeless from San José’s poorestneighborhoods.Organizers hope to raise ¢35 million($74,000) to build a center tohouse and serve young people in itsprogram.
