No Big Surprises in British Elections
MEMBERS of the British andinternational communities gathered atBritish Ambassador Georgina Butler’sresidence last Thursday to follow theblow-by-blow developments of thegeneral election in the UnitedKingdom. Little surprise was expressedat the outcome, with a Labourlead (albeit much reduced) becomingapparent from the first counts.Attendees represented all the threemajor parties – Conservatives, Labourand Lib-Dems – but political andsocial harmony was maintainedthroughout.
