New Mall Opens in Heredia

NOW OPEN: After years of traveling to San José or other neighboringcommunities for mall and movie theater access, residents of Heredia,a city 30 minutes northwest of the capital, celebrated the opening ofPaseo de las Flores this week, a mall with movie theaters, restaurantsand a variety of shops. The $18 million shopping mall, which has beenunder construction since November 2003, includes 113 stores, 18 fast foodrestaurants, five casual restaurants and six Circuito de CinesMagaly (CCM) movie theaters. The 25,000-square-meter facility, locatedon the main road into Heredia from La Uruca, across from theUniversidad Interamericana, also includes eight banks, 19 kiosks, adepartment store and a Más x Menos supermarket.
