Costa Rica outscored countries like Switzerland (4), Chile (6) and Denmark (7). Latin America scored well in the rankings, holding six of the top 10 spots.
More than 76 percent surveyed in a recent University of Costa Rica poll said they did not think SolÃs would be able to bring about the change he campaigned on.
Only 43 percent of those interviewed gave the president’s management a good grade since Luis Guillermo SolÃs took office on May 8. Some 55 percent said the new administration has done little or nothing to make good on its campaign promises.
Despite high crime, murder rates, persistent poverty and income inequality, Latin America and one of its most troubled regions, Central America, reported the highest levels of satisfaction in the world.
