Appliance company Mabe closes Costa Rica plant, lays off 445 employees

Mexican appliance manufacturer Mabe on Friday announced the closure of its refrigerator manufacturing plant in Costa Rica and the immediate dismissal of 445 of its 540 employees.

Local cargo company dismisses 65 employees

The Costa Rican company has been in the cargo transport market for over 60 years and owns a fleet of 300 semi trailers.

Another US company closes operations in Costa Rica; 550 workers to lose jobs

StarTek, a U.S. provider of business outsourcing services, will close its call center in Costa Rica on Aug. 30, according to MarketWatch, part of The Wall Street Digital Network. The closure would mean the dismissal of the company’s 550 employees at their America Free Zone facilities in the province of Heredia, who managed customer relations and technical support calls, primarily for U.S. telecom companies.

Two more companies close operations in Costa Rica, lay off 110 employees

Plastic bottle manufacturer Total PET Packaging and its recycling subsidiary New World Recycle have closed operations in Costa Rica, the company confirmed on Tuesday.
