Labor Minister Sandra Piszk to resign, move to Italy

Labor Minister Sandra Piszk announced she will leave her position to go to Italy with her husband, the future Italian ambassador, Radio Reloj reported.

The Costa Rican government named dentist Jaime Feinzaig, Piszk’s husband, to the position. He will take over the post at the beginning of October. Piszk did not mention a date for when she will leave the Labor Ministry, saying she still needed to speak with President Laura Chinchilla.

Nevertheless, Piszk’s upcoming exit serves as another setback for Chinchilla’s administration. Already in 2012, a half-dozen ministers have left or been forced to resign from the president’s Cabinet.

According to Radio Reloj, Chinchilla had lobbied for Piszk to maintain her role in spite of her husband’s nomination.
