U.S. expats commemorate victims of 9/11

Although rain delayed a ceremony scheduled for 11 a.m. on Tuesday, a small group of expats and U.S. veterans gathered at the Sept. 11 Memorial Sculpture in September 11 Park, at the Costa Rican-North American Cultural Center in Sabana Norte, in northwestern San José.

U.S. veteran John DiScipio said the memorial was “for all the victims who passed away on 9/11 and in other terrorist acts across the world.”

The monument designed and constructed by U.S. artist Roland Hockett in 2004 was rededicated last year, after the artist visited Costa Rica to repair some damages at the structure.
