Costa Rica to host world’s largest coffee research conference

The 24th conference of the Association for Science and Information on Coffee will be held in Costa Rica next November.

The “Coffee Research Conference” is the world’s largest event of its kind and aims to provide a platform for reporting the results of the latest scientific research related to coffee, such as pests and debris, according to a press release.

Ronald Peters, executive director of the Costa Rican Coffee Institute, said specialists from 30 countries will attend the conference, which will be held in a Central American country for the first time.

He also confirmed Costa Rican experts will be presenting two studies, one on the “Ojo de Gallo” plague — a damaging fungus — and another on waste water in coffee mills.

The conference will take place Nov. 11-16 at the Hotel Ramada Herradura in the capital San José.
