On Monday morning, Costa Rica congratulates Venezuela

On Monday morning, Costa Rica congratulated the government of Venezuela after incumbent President Hugo Chávez was re-elected for another six year term. Chávez beat opposition leader Henrique Capriles, in Chávez’s closest election since assuming power 14 years ago.

“The Costa Rican government expresses a warm greeting to the people and government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for the presidential election … that has resulted in the re-election of Hugo Chávez Frías,” said a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

“The Costa Rican government is convinced that Venezuela and Costa Rica will continue to deepen their friendship and cooperation, through a common  agenda of shared values and objectives on the bilateral, regional and world level.”
