Moderate quake felt Tuesday in Costa Rica’s Central Valley

A report from the Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Ovsicori) registered a magnitude-4.1 earthquake at 3:29 p.m. at a depth of 18 kilometers and located near El Guarco Valley, southwest of the province of Cartago.

The National Seismological Network (RSN) at the University of Costa Rica also reported the quake as magnitude-4.1, with its epicenter located 8 kilometers southwest from the eastern canton of Paraíso, in Cartago.

Residents from different sectors of the Central Valley reported the quake as strong and quick.

On Sunday afternoon, three temblors of magnitudes greater than 4 were registered in the Nicoya Peninsula, in the northwestern province of Guanacaste.
