Wife of U2’s Bono injured during Costa Rica trip?

On Wednesday, the Costa Rican online daily crhoy.com reported that Alison “Ali” Hewson, wife of famed U2 crooner Bono, was treated for a broken leg at an unnamed San José hospital.

Citing two sources “close to the hospital” and one “close to” an air transport company that airlifted Hewson to the hospital, crhoy.com noted that the couple was vacationing somewhere near Cóbano de Puntarenas, on the Pacific coast, when Bono’s wife had an accident on Saturday.

The couple arrived in Costa Rica on Feb. 11, crhoy.com and La Nación reported, citing immigration officials.

The La Nación report incorrectly notes that this is Bono’s first trip to Costa Rica since 1991. Bono and U2 guitarist The Edge were spotted last year swimming with dolphins off the Osa Peninsula, on the band’s private yacht.

Regardless, Ticos love U2, and knowing that Costa Rica is a vacation destination for the famous rockers is likely to make the happiest country on the planet a little happier.
