Section of Cartago highway to undergo repairs for two months

A section of the road that connects San José with the province of Cartago will be repaired starting next weekend, the Public Works and Transport Ministry (MOPT) said.

The project will be carried out in conjunction with the National Roadway Council and includes the replacement of concrete slabs on a stretch of the road at the community of Ochomogo.

Works are scheduled to start next Saturday and will run until May 22, including weekends.

The section to be repaired stretches from the Cristo Rey gas station to the weigh station in the San José-Cartago lane. Crews will work from 6 a.m.-6 p.m.

Traffic Police will be on site permanently to assist with traffic flow and to help avoid traffic jams.

According to MOPT, repairs will cost some ₡550 million ($1.1 million).
