Unidentified subjects open fire on Colombia Embassy in San José

Unknown subjects in the early-morning hours of Friday fired at least 10 times from a moving car at the main facilities of the Colombian Embassy in San José, Costa Rica.

Colombian Ambassador Hernando Herrera reported to the Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) that he and other staff members on Friday found bullet holes at different points of the diplomatic facilities located east of the capital in the residential area of Barrio Dent.

Initial police reports state that at least two persons were in the car, and that they fired at the embassy walls and fences at around 2:40 a.m. The OIJ press office reported that there are no injuries and only property damage.

The embassy does not have security personnel, and only a National Policy officer was at the location during the attack, but she was unharmed.

OIJ agents arrived at the scene to collect evidence.

The embassy will remain closed to the public until next week.
