Ana Luisa Elizondo Salas, appointed by President Luis Guillermo Solís as vice minister of public works and transport (MOPT), has declined the post, citing personal reasons, Transport Minister Carlos Segnini said on Monday.
Elizondo was tapped to head the Infrastructure and Concessions Office at the ministry, but she did not participate in last Thursday’s inauguration ceremonies, which included a swearing in of all Cabinet members. She had previously asked Solís for a few days to resolve personal matters.
Segnini made the announcement minutes before entering a meeting in his office with representatives of the University of Costa Rica’s National Structural Materials and Models Laboratory (LANAMME) and the National Roadway Council (CONAVI) on Monday morning.
MOPT’s press office said Segnini is studying alternative names to fill the post.
Elizondo currently works at LANAMME and has served as assistant executive director at CONAVI.
