Miami-based Pollo Tropical, a Latin American-style grilled chicken brand, opened its first franchise restaurant in front of San José’s Parque Central last week. A second restaurant is set to open in Liberia, capital of the northwestern province of Guanacaste, at the end of the month, South Florida Business Journal reported.
The franchise will be operated by Costa Rica’s Chicken Tropical Service SA, whose ownership includes Alberto Chacin, José Chacin, Carlos Borregales, Leonardo Belloso and Rafael Belloso.
Borregales, Leonardo Belloso and Rafael Belloso are also partners in more than 30 Burger King franchises in Costa Rica and 13 in Panama.
Pollo Tropical owns and operates 91 U.S. locations in Florida, Georgia and New Jersey, and has 32 franchises with international locations in Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, Ecuador, Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
