Granada Animal Clinic Returning

Dear Nica Times:

Granada’s Casa Lupita animal clinic will be offering spaying and neutering of cats and dogs Nov. 27-Dec 8.

Two veterinarians, Dr. Doris Gangl from Austria and Dr. Gregoir Brillet from France, will be volunteering their services to the community.

Dr. Brillet is also a large-animal expert and will examine and treat horses and cattle as well.

It would be helpful to know the number, size (small, medium, large) and breed of cats and dogs that people want to request to be spayed or neutered.

Once we have that information, we will try to organize a schedule that is as convenient as possible for everyone. Please remember that your pet shouldn’t have anything to eat or drink after midnight before the surgery (most important for spays).

If you have a cat or dog carrier, please plan to use it for transport and for recovery. We are short on these.

Please make an effort to check with your Nicaraguan neighbors or anyone else you may know who would be amenable to having their pet spayed or neutered.

Explain that neutering is a good prevention for prostate cancer in their male animals in later years.

We would like to include some of the healthier street dogs as well, especially the females. If any of you can establish a “rapport” of sorts with a stray dog in your neighborhood (feed it daily) and could bring it to the clinic, that would prevent numerous litters and subsequent stray dogs in the community.

This is probably the most important aspect of the clinic’s work.We are asking for donations in any amount to defray the cost of surgery or other treatment for your pet.

This will help to purchase necessary anesthesia and other medications for the clinic services.

Please contact me at donnatabor@cablenet.com.ni, or by calling 852-0210 to make an appointment for an animal’s treatment.

The clinic will not be able to accommodate walk-in patients.
