Accused U.S. child molester nabbed in Guatemala

A U.S. man accused of molesting a 4-year-old girl was arrested last week in Guatemala after avoiding justice for 18 years, news agency Reuters reported on Tuesday. 

Jeffrey Reed Parish, 65, was arrested July 12 at his home in Panajachel, a lakeside village often frequented by tourists, some 145 kilometers west of the capital. 

An FBI spokeswoman said Reed Parish was living under an assumed name and did not resist arrest. Agents accompanied him back to the U.S. on Saturday, where he will face charges in California, where he had disappeared in 1998, Reuters reported.
