Three temblors shake Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY – Three earthquakes with magnitudes between 4.4 and 4.8 degrees on the Richter scale rocked southern and western Guatemala but no casualties or damage were registered, officials said.

Two earthquakes occurred on Monday, with their epicenter on the South Pacific coast, between 8:21 a.m. and 9:33 a.m., detailed the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conrad).

The Seismological Institute also reported that at 19:15 on Sunday, a magnitude-4.8  tremor located 153 km west of the capital, was felt in the provinces of San Marcos and Quetzaltenango (west), Retalhuleu and Suchitepéquez (southwest).

Guatemalans are still suffering the aftermath of the 7.4-degree earthquake in November that left 44 dead and losses of $200 million, primarily in eight provinces of the country.
