Ceramics Contest Now Accepting Entries

CERAMIC artists of Costa Rica will have a chance to show off their skills when the Costa Rican Art Museum and Habitarte Gallery host the second Ceramics Contest at San José’s Children’s Museum March 2.

The contest will take place as part of the International Festival of Arts in March, and is intended to promote the ceramic arts in Costa Rica. All participating works will be on display Feb. 6-10 at Habitarte Gallery in the western suburb of Escazú.

Three awards will be given for best ceramic art, best utilitarian ceramic work and best achievement for the enrichment of cultural roots, according to a statement from the art museum.

Last year the contest featured works by 26 artists, with the first-place award going to artist Alicia Coto for her work, “At the Feet of the Delighted Spirit.”

Those interested in participating in this year’s contest can apply for entry online at www.habitarte.net, or pick up an entry form after Jan. 2 at the Costa Rican Art Museum in western San José’s La Sabana Park.

For more information, call Habitarte Gallery at 220-4800 or visit www.habitarte.net.
