AFTER selling the entire stock of the Papaya Orchestra’s second release, “Tierra de la Dulce Espera” (Land of the Sweet Wait), in three months, Papaya Music produced a second batch, with a few twists, now available in music stores and online.The new version was remastered in New Orleans, Louisiana, and includes a newly released song, “Nanita,” by the Guatemalan Magda Angélica. The song features a segment in Quiché, one of the indigenous languages of Guatemala, sung by Linda de la Cruz, and an ensemble of female performers from Guatemala and Costa Rica.The album comprises 14 songs in the orchestra’s tradition, uniting composers and performers from throughout Central America, fusing their traditionally inspired music and instruments with modern instruments and sounds.
