‘Evita’ in Two Languages

Students of the McCallumFineArtsAcademy of Austin, Texas, perform Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Evita” in two languages this weekend and next at the National Auditorium in San José’s Children’s Museum. The performers alternate between English and Spanish in dialogues and songs – including the famous “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” – while a public screen displays the translation. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. Tickets, which may be reserved by calling 2222-7647 or 2258-4929, cost ¢3,000 ($5.70) for general admission and ¢2,000 ($3.80) for students, adults over 55 and groups of 10 or more. Fifty percent of the proceeds will go toward the 2010 National Cleanup Day being organized in September by the nonprofit Terra Nostra Association.
