Costa Rica Bank CEO Steps Down Early

Banco de Costa Rica’s CEO resigned this week after four and a half years in the position, but with two years remaining on his contract.
Carlos Fernández stepped down to pursue various professional, familial and personal projects, according to a statement released by the bank’s board of directors.
The statement said there was no animosity between Fernández and the board and quotes board President Víctor Emilio Herrera saying that “thanks to (his) efforts, today the Banco de Costa Rica is one of the largest and most successful banks in the country, with a definite profile and excellent financial results.”
Assistant Manager Mario Rivera will serve as interim CEO while the board seeks a replacement, the statement said.
