University Opens Nicoya Campus

UNIVERSIDAD Nacional (UNA)has opened new 12-hectare campus on theNicoya Peninsula, in the town of Nicoya.The $2.2 million campus, inauguratedlast month, offers programs in tourism,teaching English as a second language,computer engineering and computer education.It will also be home to theMesoamerican Center for the SustainableDevelopment of Dry Tropics, takingadvantage of forest within and surroundingthe Guanacaste campus, according toofficials at UNA’s main campus inHeredia, north of San José.More than 5,200 square meters ofclassrooms, offices, lecture halls andcomputer centers will serve students andstaff in the Nicoya area.
