Technology Seminar Coming to Limón

THE First International Seminar onScience and Technology is scheduled fornext Tuesday and Wednesday at theNational Training Institute (INA) campusin the Atlantic port town Limón.The seminar is being coordinated byAdmire Americas S.A., which runs a newcall center in Limón, and is aimed at generatingjobs in the technological sector aswell as creating a digital environment inthe city.During the two-day seminar, approximately150 high school students will learnabout scientific, technological and labortopics, with the help of the regionaladministration of the Public EducationMinistry.Admire Americas president RogelioRichards said in a statement that the ideafor the seminar came after speaking witha teacher in Limón who told him,“Nowadays students are not interested instudying science because they think it’stoo difficult.”He said the company’s mission is toinspire more appreciation for technologyamong young people in Limón, and eventuallybe able to influence the developmentof a workforce ready to compete inthe global market.The company is not the only oneinterested in making this a reality, as othergovernment entities and companies suchas the Atlantic Port Authority (JAPDEVA),Radiografia Costarricense, S.A.(RACSA), Sykes, Intel, Universidad SanJosé, Universidad Latina, the Costa RicanElectricity Institute (ICE), Banco Popularand MrLimon.com are sponsoring theseminar.
