Cultural agenda for the weekend in Costa Rica

The weekend is here! Finally, some time to rest, unwind and enjoy some free time doing fun activities.

Fortunately, this weekend has a great offer of exciting activities for all preferences.

Juego de los Diablitos

The indigenous community of Rey Curré/Yímba, located in Buenos Aires de Puntarenas, will host its most important cultural festivity of the year: the “Juego de los Diablitos,” an ancestral tradition that recalls the rebellious struggles of their ancestors against the conquest processes, more than 500 years ago.

The Game of the Diablitos has a very important meaning for this population because it commemorates an epic event in which the Boruca Indians repelled the enemies and continued to inhabit the lands of their ancestors.

Peruvian documentary “Pacíficum”

The Film Center begins this week with its “Preamble Tours” 2023 program, which will present the Peruvian documentary “Pacíficum” and whose screenings will be offered free of charge in communities of Pérez Zeledón, Mora, Cartago, Sarchí, Puerto Jiménez, and Playa Avellanas.

“Pacíficum” by Mariana Tschudi studies the relationship between Peruvians and the Pacific Ocean, the fauna and flora of the Peruvian coast, through the story of a paleontologist, a specialist in pre-Hispanic urbanism, a marine biologist, and an expert in ecotourism, who combine their knowledge with extraordinary images.

Screenings will begin on Friday, January 27, at 4 p.m., at the Old Market of Ciudad Colón. Likewise, at 6 p.m., it will be presented in Trincheras, Barrio Boston, in Pérez Zeledón.
