Costa Rica Covid-19 Sanitary Restrictions Now Until February 28

Citing the recent increase of hospitalized patients and its impact on the medical system, the Casa Presidencial has announced it will continue its sanitary restrictions until the end of the month.

That means no cars on the road from midnight until 5 a.m. without a permit

Restrictions on the San Jose “ring road” will stay in place as well.

Bus riders seem to be the exception when it comes to transportation . New regulations allow a 100% capacity for standing passengers.

Cultural and Sporting events can continue to take place with established restrictions of 40% capacity with no QR code requirement and 80% capacity for those that require a QR code.

The government is also ramping up its vaccination campaign. They are extending the hours of vaccination centers until 6 p.m. and are looking to soon have them open at least one weekend day a week.

The government of Costa Rica has received significant vaccine donations recently from the United States and Spain and therefore is encouraging all persons that are able to get vaccinated.
