Hamburger helpers: The Hamburguesía cooking kit

Gourmet hamburgers are a global trend, and in a cattle-rich country like Costa Rica, you can expect some palatable patties. But at Hamburguesía Costa Rica, the hip little joint in the southwestern San José suburb of Escazú, you can take the burger experience one step further – buy the materials from the chef and grill your burger in the comfort of your own kitchen.

The Hamburguesía staff cleverly posted this sign-slash-advertisement on its wall. Not in the dining room, mind you, but in the men’s lavatory. (These folks know how to entertain a captive audience.)

In short, Hamburguesía will furnish you with the ingredients and cooking instructions, and the rest is up to you. Most travelers staying in hotels will not have access to a kitchen, but if you’re staying with friends or have your own place, the Hamburguesía burger kit is definitely worth a try.

Then again, just eating in the restaurant is pretty scrumptious, too.
