‘Wizard of Oz’ rocked

By Konstantin Beuthner

There’s complete silence. A raging noise bursts onto the stage and the evil witch points her magic wand at the audience.

Did you experience “The Wizard of Oz” play? It took place recently in Tamarindo, Guanacaste, at the Diria hotel. As a part of the audience, I thought this play was one of the best created and performed at the Diria hotel. You could see that the people who participated put a tremendous amount of work into preparing for this performance. There were many students and teachers involved from many different schools, such as Country Day School, La Paz Community School and Gold Coast Learning Center. It was the story of “The Wizard of Oz,” although a few other aspects were added into the play to make it hilarious. For example, I almost died laughing when a dressed-up Elvis Presley walked onto the stage and rocked out with his guitar!

All the work and effort put into this piece was really appreciated by the audience and everyone else who supported this event. If you did not see the play, then I have to say you definitely missed out. Most of the actors were students and children, and I would like to give them a round of applause and a big thank-you for all their hard work and effort.n
