President Ortega celebrates anniversary; Costa Rica opens shelters

Thursday marked the 39th anniversary of the Sandinista revolution’s victory that first brought him to power; celebrations took place after Ortega intensified a deadly crackdown on protesters demanding he step down, and as Costa Rica opened shelters for Nicaraguans fleeing the violence in their country.
