Ingram Micro Inc., the world’s largest wholesale technology distributor, on Wednesday opened a new repair facility in Santa Ana, southwest of San José.
The facility employs 300 people and will be fully dedicated to supporting the company’s mobile device lifecycle services, “specifically repair, recovery and recycling,” the firm said in a press release. The jobs number could increase to 400 by the end of the year, it added.
“We chose Costa Rica because of its impressive infrastructure and highly talented workforce,” said Christopher Newell, vice president of Global Reverse Logistics.
Costa Rica’s plant will primarily serve Ingram Micro Mobility’s partnership with a major U.S. mobile carrier.
“This location also further extends our reach into the important Latin American market,” Newell added.
The California-based firm currently serves approximately 160 countries on six continents with a diverse portfolio of IT products and services.
