Bus companies to hold protest on San José’s west side

Representatives of bus companies and chambers, including the Public Transportation for Everyone Movement, plan to protest today starting at 9:30 am in the areas surrounding La Sabana and west on Route 27 to Guachipelín de Escazú.

According to a joint statement from several bus chambers, the protest will end at the Public  Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP) offices, where they will present a number of petitions and complaints related to the current bus fare struture.

“We are convinced that ARESEP needs to understand and improve this situation… a fare structure with this many structures will lead to more problems for the user,” movement spokesman Carlos López said.

One group of protesters will head from Sabana Park to the ARESEP headquarters in Escazú, a second will stay outside that building, and a third will move around the surrounding roadways until a resolution is reached, the statement said.
