U.S. citizen arrested after pot plants discovered in Costa Rica home

The Judicial Investigation Police (OIJ) arrested a 53-year old U.S. citizen in possession of 293 marijuana plants early Thursday morning at his residence in San Rafael de San Francisco de Heredia, north of San José. Each plant was reported to weigh approximately 28 grams.

According to an OIJ press statement, neighbors reported a heated dispute at the home Wednesday evening that included a fight and several gun shots. The argument was allegedly over an unpaid debt.

When the OIJ arrived at the residence, one man fled. The U.S. citizen, who last name is Adolf, was arrested at his home in the early hours of Thursday morning. The OIJ discovered the plants in a room equipped with an intricate light and watering system used for cultivation.
